Johnson "Pinballed" At Southern National

Jerick Johnson and the KOMA Unwind Super Late Model team played pinball Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, NC. Unfortunately, Johnson was the pinball. 

After qualifying 18^th for the “Scorcher 150” Pro All Stars Series event, Johnson was the victim of an overanxious lapped car in the early going, suffering damage that relegated him to a disappointing, 21^st-place finish. 

“We struggled all weekend trying to find the handle,” said Johnson. “Finally, we took a big swing at it right before qualifying and made a ton of changes. We ended up qualifying better than we had back in April, and thought we’d be good in the 150-lap feature. Unfortunately, we never got a chance to show it.” 

On lap 12, a driver who had experienced early mechanical problems and was multiple laps in arrears returned to the track and made contact with the right side of Johnson’s KOMA Unwind entry. “We got run over by a guy that was three or four laps down, and it really tore our car up,” said Johnson. “It knocked the right-front toe out of whack, and after that, we were just along for the ride. 

“One of these days, we’re going to catch just a little bit of good luck,” he said. “And when we do, we’ll be fine.” 

Next up for the KOMA Unwind team is a 150-lap Pro All Stars Series event on Saturday night, August 15 at the legendary South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA.
